We had a post and barb wire fence over on the upper levels of the east side of the lake which was there to keep out cows for the past 50 years. It is a mystery to many of us that 50% of this fence has been removed in the recent weeks. No one seems to know why, but it has resulted in more cows running about the community then normal. If you were unaware, this is cow country. It is the responsibility of the land owner to fence them out. Any damage done to these cows will be on the back of the perpetrator.
Well folks the mystery has been solved, but the resolution still evades us. Unbeknownst the land to the east of the now missing fence was owned by the Heyer Trust. That lot has been sold and the new owner took down the fence which is his legal right. We will discuss at the annual meeting, but we are going to need everyone's help to figure out our next steps. The cow issue will continue for now.
The good news is that the new land owner is just as concerned about the cows, so possibly something can be negotiated in the future. Get on your thinking caps.

To make the situation even more disappointing, there is another large portion of land on the outline of our parameter to the community, that has been sold. This property encompasses the end of Skyline and includes the trail and gate that goes up the hill on the south west side of the lake. As of now, this has been newly purchased, and we do not know what the plans are to make what was treated as a public area, a private area. I know many of our residents, including those from Salmon who have enjoyed that trail for walking on accessing the forest service trails to the south and above the lake.
